Construction of the 2×110 kV transmission line SS Kraljevo 3 – SS Novi Pazar 1 –strengthening the power grid of Southwestern Serbia

Southwestern Serbia is one of the areas facing the greatest power system challenges due to the growing demand for a stable electricity supply. The project for the construction of a double-circuit 110 kV transmission line between Kraljevo 3 and Novi Pazar 1 substations is of key importance for strengthening grid infrastructure and ensuring long-term energy security in the region.

The transmission line, spanning a total length of 64 kilometers, runs through complex mountainous terrain across the Kraljevo and Raška regions, all the way to Novi Pazar. Its implementation will enable a stable electricity supply for businesses and households, while reducing network losses and improving the quality of delivered energy.

Izgradnja dalekovoda kroz zahtjevne brdsko-planinske predjele donijela je niz Construction of the transmission line through demanding mountainous areas brought several technical and logistical challenges:

• Specific geographical terrain with steep slopes and difficult access to construction sites
• Variable weather conditions require precise planning of work activities
• Synchronization with the existing grid to ensure continuity of supply during construction
• Environmental standards, as part of the route passes through areas with increased environmental protection
  

The work had to be carefully scheduled and carried out in phases in order to minimize power supply interruptions and ensure on-site safety.

Elnos Group, in consortium with another company, was engaged in key segments of the project implementation:

• Equipment procurement
• Civil works, including excavation and construction of foundations and lower sections of transmission line towers
• Electromechanical works, including installation of phase conductors, glass insulators, OPGW, tension and suspension hardware
• Coordination with power system operators to integrate the line into existing infrastructure

• Increased energy stability in southwestern Serbia
• Improved quality of delivered electricity
• Reduction of losses in the transmission network
• Support for economic development and industrial zones in Kraljevo, Raška and Novi Pazar
• Increased grid capacity for future needs and development of renewable energy sources

This project is essential for the long-term power system stability of Serbia, enabling improved interconnection and electricity distribution between Kraljevo and Novi Pazar, which is particularly important for regional economic development and overall grid reliability.
