Major modernization of HPP Perućica

News | January 31, 2025

At a steady pace, our teams are advancing through every phase of the modernization project for the Perućica hydroelectric power plant (307 MW).

Elnos Group, in partnership with Voith Hydro, has been entrusted with comprehensive tasks for the overhaul of both electrical and mechanical equipment in the plant’s generating units.
The heart of Perućica consists of seven generating units, producing a total of 307 MW of electricity.  All the electrical and mechanical equipment within these units is being rehabilitated, except for the generators, and nearly all auxiliary and control systems are being replaced.

By 2024, we completed all assigned tasks on units A1 and A2, which have already entered trial operation. The comprehensive rehabilitation of unit A6 was finalized in December, and it is set to begin trial operation in February.

The works on the gate Slano have been fully completed, while those on gate Povija are partially finished. HPP Perućica, Montenegro’s oldest and most significant hydroelectric power plant, currently generates about 25 percent of the country’s electricity. The modernization, planned to span five years, marks a pivotal step in maintaining and improving the plant’s capacity and efficiency.
