Project Significance
Since 1966, SHP Celex has been a proud manufacturer of paper hygiene products such as kitchen towels and toilet paper. The factory is in Banja Luka, where the paper machine produces approximately 40,000 tons of paper annually.
SHP Celex decided to invest in the construction of a completely new wastewater treatment plant. This investment was welcomed by the entire local community, as its primary goal is to contribute to a cleaner and more environmentally sustainable Vrbas River, a key symbol of the city of Banja Luka.
Elnos Group’s Role
Elnos Group completed work at the newly constructed wastewater treatment plant. The scope of work included:
- Supply and installation of a new wastewater treatment automation system.
Delivery of a fully new treatment plant within the Celex paper mill, consisting of a receiving station, buffer tank, IoT sensor system, DAF unit, and discharge station.
- Design, manufacturing, and installation of control cabinets in the electrical mechanical workshop in Banja Luka. The control cabinets are equipped with frequency converters and PLC controllers, ensuring optimal and reliable plant operation.
- Integration of IoT devices with the automation system and the Celex factory ERP system.
Supply and installation of IoT devices used in the water treatment process, specifically for level measurement in the receiving station and buffer tank.
For the implementation of the automation system, WinCC Advanced software and Siemens PLCs were used. The IoT sensors were supplied by Endress+Hauser, with device configuration and commissioning performed via mobile phone using a wireless connection and the SmartBlue application.
These smart IoT devices are connected to the plant’s automation system or directly to the Celex factory ERP system, enabling real-time monitoring and efficient process control.
