Project overview
After successful solar projects in Croatia, Elnos Group has completed one of the first major solar power plants in Bosnia and Herzegovina – the Medeno Polje solar power plant. Covering an area of 5.23 hectares near Bosanski Petrovac, this facility marks a significant step forward in the development of renewable energy sources in BiH.
From March to September 2023, Elnos Group teams executed the project on a turnkey basis, covering all phases from design to commissioning. Medeno Polje contributes to strengthening the country's energy independence and reducing CO₂ emissions through the production of clean electricity.

The solar power plant uses advanced photovoltaic modules optimized for varying weather conditions. High-efficiency inverters ensure optimal energy conversion and stable delivery to the grid.
Project challenges
Construction in the karst region of Medeno Polje brought several technical and logistical challenges:
- Specific geological terrain requiring precise design and stabilization of support structures
- Optimization of panel orientation for maximum production across all seasons
- Integration with the power grid, requiring precise synchronization with existing transmission systems
- Compliance with environmental regulations and biodiversity protection standards

Elnos Group acted not only as a contractor but as a solution provider, delivering a complete concept even before the design phase. This ensured optimized technical solutions and improved project execution efficiency.
Our role included:
- Turnkey design and construction
- Installation of solar panels and supporting structures
- Installation of inverters and connection to transformer stations
- Laying and connecting AC and DC cables
- Implementation of SCADA for remote monitoring and control
- System testing and performance optimization prior to commissioning
