In the heart of Slavonia, in the Municipality of Vrpolje, south of the settlement of Stari Perkovci, Elnos Group has delivered one of the solar projects in Croatia – Stari Perkovci solar power plant. This project is part of the strategy to increase renewable energy sources in the region and contributes to the country’s energy sustainability.
Project overview
Works began in 2023 and were completed according to plan in the first quarter of 2024. The project was technically and logistically demanding due to the nature of the soil, which had previously been agricultural land. Special attention was given to structural stabilization and optimization of the solar panel orientation to achieve maximum efficiency.
Technical characteristics
- Maximum installed capacity: 4.89 MWp
- Output AC capacity: 4 MW
- Number of solar panels: 8,976
- Total area: 5.36 ha
- Annual production: 5.39 GWh
- Area of implementation: Brodsko-Posavina County
- Grid connection: 110/20 kV Donji Andrijevci substation
This solar park will provide sufficient electricity to supply thousands of households and significantly contribute to reducing Croatia’s carbon footprint.
Implementation challenges
- Specific terrain conditions and groundwater levels, which required adapted technology for installing the support structure.
- High soil moisture, requiring the use of specialized machinery for pile driving.
- Optimization of panel tilt to ensure maximum production efficiency throughout the year.
- Integration with the power grid, including precise connection to the Donji Andrijevci substation.
Role of Elnos Group
Elnos Group assumed key responsibilities in the implementation of this project:
- Pile driving and installation of the supporting structure for solar panels.
- Installation of 8,976 photovoltaic panels and inverters.
- Laying of low-voltage and DC cables.
- Testing and commissioning of the solar power plant.
- Installation of medium-voltage cable and optical fiber from the plant to the 110/20 kV substation.
Strategic importance
- Increase in solar energy capacity in Croatia.
- Long-term reduction of CO₂ emissions.
- Strengthening energy independence through renewable sources.
- Improvement of local infrastructure and grid connectivity.
- Support for EU goals of reducing fossil fuel use and transitioning to green energy.
Stari Perkovci Solar Park represents a significant contribution to Croatia’s energy transition, while Elnos Group continues to position itself as a leader in the implementation of solar projects across the region.
