A decade of Elnos Group in Iceland

News | June 15, 2025

This year, Elnos Group celebrates ten years of successful operations in Iceland, the only country in the world that generates 100 percent of its electricity from renewable energy sources.

Entering this market in 2015 was a milestone that marked the company’s business journey, as well as a major test of the strength of our engineering, which opened the door to new, even larger projects.
Today, Elnos Group is a reliable partner in the development of Iceland’s power infrastructure, a status we achieved by daring to take on the most challenging projects.

We have built a modern Icelandic network under extremely demanding conditions, from lava stone fields to project execution within the Arctic Circle.

Over the past ten years, our teams have built and reconstructed more than 350 kilometers of transmission lines up to the 400 kV voltage level.

Among our key references in Iceland are the construction of the Búrfell 2 hydropower plant (100 MW), carried out 100 meters below ground, and the construction of the Krafla geothermal power plant (60 MW), through which we successfully expanded our portfolio to include GIS technology.

These achievements form the foundation on which we build our future. On this occasion, this anniversary becomes much more than symbolic – it is a recognition of past accomplishments, as well as a commitment to further development and innovation in one of the most demanding energy environments in Europe.
