The significance of the project:
Project of construction the HVDC interconnection MONITA (Montenegro-Italy) is one of the most important regional endeavor in the field of electrical engineering in the last decade.
Construction of the 423-kilometer long underwater cable link that will ensure the exchange of electricity between the power systems of Italy and Montenegro also represents an undertaking that Montenegro gives the position of the new strategic energy hub in the region.
Elnos Group works:
Construction of the first HVDC interconnection between Italy and Montenegro also involved a construction of converter station near the coasts these two countries. Elnos teams were engaged in the construction of the converter station in Lastva Grbaljska which has installed capacity of 1,000 MW, the voltage level of ± 500 kV DC, and covers 17.1 hectares of land near the highway from Tivat to Budva.
Being one of the contractors in the constructing the converter station represents a major challenge and our teams are in the context of this enterprise confirmed their practical work approach and handling with new technologies.
Together with three consortium partners, we performed electrical installation works on: 400 kV facility, filter facility and converter transformers in the framework of the converter substation.
Further, Elnos Group team performed the electrical installation works in the control building, the rectifier facility and DC facility. They are relate to: the installation of the system of their own consumption, remote control and relay protection, system installation of general consumption, technical consumer and lighting of low current and thermo mechanical installation and landscaping.
