Sava Square – contact network for the Belgrade of future

The capital of Serbia gets a new modern architectural ensemble in the very center of the city, on a location in front of the former Main Railway Station. It is about the construction of Belgrade’s Sava Square within the project the Belgrade Waterfront.

This important project is part of the architectural and infrastructural concept of creating a new face of the core of Belgrade. The works on its realization are in full swing. Within this project, Elnos Group is engaged for works on the reconstruction of the tram contact network.

More precisely, our teams at site are performing complete works on the construction of a new contact network on the edges of the new Sava Square and work on its connection with the old contact network in Karađorđeva, Nemanjina and Savska Street.

Elnos Group works have their construction and electrical installation stage. The construction work phase, which includes the construction of the foundation and installation of 31 towers for the contact network, has entered the final phase . The electrical installation stage of the works includes, among other things: installation more than 200 elements of the contact network, the device of automatically tightening, complete equipment for the supply and sectioning of the contact network, system of heating and controlling a three electric and three mechanical tram switches, 53 sets of brackets for carrying the tram contact network, and installation of cabinets for powering the unguent, for oiling the tram rails.

Due to the great importance of the project, its implementation did not prolong even during the state of emergency introduced due to the COVID- 19 virus in Serbia, so our hardworking teams, respecting many security measures, successfully continued the construction of their part in this challenging period. The investor of the project is “Belgrade Waterfront”, and “Elnos BL” Belgrade is hired as a subcontractor of the company “Colas Rail”.

According to the adopted dynamics of works, the complete project should be completed by the end of September 2020.
