Third section of the Trans-Balkan corridor moves forward

As part of a consortium, Elnos Group will carry out the reconstruction and expansion of the Bajina Bašta substation to the 400/220/35 kV voltage level, as well as the installation of two 400 kV fields at the Obrenovac substation.

The contract has been signed between Elektromreža Srbije and the consortium comprising Elnos and Energotehnika Južna Bačka.

The upcoming project at the Bajina Bašta and Obrenovac substations, together with the construction of a double-circuit 400 kV transmission line between them, forms part of the third section of the Trans-Balkan Electricity Transmission Corridor through Serbia.

With the implementation of this project, the existing 220 kV network in western Serbia will be replaced by modern 400 kV infrastructure, significantly increasing transmission capacity and system reliability. At the same time, conditions will be created for the connection of new generation capacities, including the future reversible hydropower plant Bistrica, which will play an important role in system balancing.

The signing of the contract marks an important step in the realization of one of Serbia’s key energy projects, contributing to the strengthening of the transmission network and the overall security of the power system.

The Trans-Balkan Corridor holds major national, regional, and European significance, and its realization further strengthens Serbia’s position as an important energy hub in Southeast Europe.
