The construction of the new 110/35 kV GIS substation “Belgrade 44” in Surčin has been successfully completed – one of the most significant power infrastructure projects in Serbia.
The project was delivered in record time, from the start of works in March last year through to final commissioning, with approximately 50 specialists engaged on site at peak activity.
The project was delivered on a turnkey basis, encompassing the full scope of works – from design and civil works on the control building, through the supply and installation of 110 kV and 35 kV GIS switchgear and two 31.5 MVA power transformers, to secondary connections, testing, and final commissioning.
The GIS (gas-insulated switchgear) solution allows high-voltage substations to be built in a more compact, protected, and reliable configuration compared to conventional air-insulated solutions, making “Belgrade 44” a modern and forward-looking addition to Belgrade’s power grid.
What makes this substation particularly notable is the application of advanced GIS technology combined with construction on a demanding site alongside the Nova Galovica canal.
We carried out the works as the main contractor in consortium with Montprojekt d.o.o. Belgrade. We are proud that this substation, built on advanced GIS technology, has become a new strategically important energy hub within Belgrade’s power system.
